Cecily strong

  Cecily Legler Strong (born February 8 1984) is an American comedian, actress producer, singer, and actress. Strong is known most for being a Saturday Night Live cast member between 2012 and 2022. Strong has the longest tenure of a female character in the history of the show. Strong was performing in improv at The Second City, Chicago, when she completed her studies at CalArts. She was later employed by SNL. She currently plays a leading role in the Apple TV+ musical comedy series Schmigadoon! (2021-present), which she is also co-producing.



 



 Her other role includes voice-overs on The Awesomes (2013-2015), as well as supporting roles in films such as Ghostbusters, The Meddler, and The Female Brain. She was host of the White House Correspondents' Dinner in the year 2015. In 2021, her first book The Memoir This Is Going to be Over Soon Soon, was released.



 



 She was nominated by Primetime Emmy Awards at the 72nd and 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards as Outstanding Supporting Artist on an Comedy Series for her work on Saturday Night Live.



 



 Early life



 Strong was born in Springfield, Illinois, and was raised in Oak Park, an inner suburb within the ring area of Chicago. Strong is the daughter of Penelope and William "Bill" Strong, who was the Associated Press bureau chief and as of 2013 ran his own firm of public relations. Penny Legler Strong, a nurse practitioner who been employed in a variety of hospitals throughout the region has retired. Strong's parents were divorced. Strong was a fan of SNL alongside her mother as an infant. She would recreate sketches with her friend and then watch old SNL commercials on VHS. "I had a collection of the greatest commercials, and I wore it every day." She said that Phil Hartman was the person who inspired her.
